Library Governance

In Ontario, public libraries are under the care and control of the library board, as outlined in the Public Libraries Act.  Board members are community residents appointed for four year terms, concurrent with Council.

The County of Brant Public Library Board is the driving force behind our vision and mission. The Board sets library policies, goals, and objectives, and advocates for the library in the greater community.

The Library CEO and senior staff are responsible for day-to-day operations.

Plans & studies

Help shape the future of the County of Brant Public Library!

The Library is currently looking at how to meet the needs of residents through our branches and services through two exciting studies. Please take part by finding out more, below.

NEW: 2026 Strategic Plan and Facilities Plan Community Input Needed

Strategic Plan and Facilities Plan

Our Strategic Plan defines who we are and what we do, providing guidance to our Library Board and Staff over the next four years. Our first-ever Facilities Plan focuses on how much library space is needed across Brant County over the next 20 years, where libraries are required to service urban and rural populations, and the types of library services people need.

Whether you regularly or occasionally use the library, or even if you haven’t had a chance to visit us recently, we want to know about the things that draw you to the Library and how you think our branches can be improved.

Ways to get involved!

Community Feedback Form

Please complete our Community Feedback Form which will be open until September 30, 2026 and takes approximately 7 to 10 minutes to complete. We ask that one form per person is submitted. All responses will be kept confidential and will be reproduced in summary form only. Please contact us if you prefer to fill out a hard copy version of the survey instead.

Public Open Houses

We want to know how you use the CBPL spaces, services, and programs. Tell us what you want to see in the future! We will be posting dates, times and locations of open houses where you can come and speak with us soon. Please check back in mid-September for updates.
