Borrow games, puzzles, toys, and much more from the County of Brant Public Library. Whether you’re looking for new board or video games, family favourites, or picturesque puzzles, you’ll find something for every age and skill level.

Gaming events at the library

From game nights, to drop-in Dungeons & Dragons sessions, we always have something on the go:

Library Libations - Game Night at the Paris Beer Co. 

It's game night with the library!

Compete against other tables as library staff lead you and your friends through rounds of interactive games.

Book a table, grab your friends, and join us for an evening of fun:

  • Date - Returns winter 2023!
  • Location - The Paris Beer Co (Wincey Mills location)

Use our online calendar to reserve your table (reservations are strongly encouraged as space is limited).

Green Screen & Gaming

Join us for an evening of green screen fun and video games! Try virtual gaming with our Meta Quest and play Wii games with family and friends.

  • Date - Wednesday, December 14 from 6-8 PM
  • Location - Paris Branch (12 William Street, Paris)

This is a free drop-in event; An adult must accompany players under the age of 13 years.

Who You Gonna Call? A Dungeons & Dragons Drop-In adventure for teens 
Things go bump in the night in the seaside city of Cresthaven, and Dr. Gravestone is looking for brave adventurers to investigate! Will you answer the call?
  • Date - Fridays from 3:30-5 PM
  • Location - Paris Branch (12 William Street, Paris)
  • Ages - High school students in Grades 9+

This is a free drop-in event; registration is not required.

The Many Faces of Link - A Dungeons & Dragons/Legend of Zelda adventure for tweens
Get ready to play D&D like you've never played before!
We're running a campaign set in Hyrule, the setting of the famous Legend of Zelda games.
  • Date - Wednesdays from 3:30-5 PM
  • Location - St. George Branch (78 Main Street North, St. George)
  • Ages - Tweens, 10+

Magic: the Gathering - a Saturday drop-in club for tweens & teens

Get ready for a new club where you can learn about Magic: the Gathering (MTG), a classic card game.

We'll provide decks and people to play with - all you have to bring is yourself!

We welcome all skill levels, whether you have never heard of MTG, or you've won championship games, all are welcome!

  • Dates - Saturdays from 12-2 PM
  • Location - St. George Branch (78 Main Street, St. George)
  • Ages - Tweens 10+ and teens 13-18 years old

This is a free drop-in program; no registration is required.

Mahjong Club

Whether you're a beginner or already know how to play, an afternoon of socialization and strategy awaits!

  • Date - Thursdays from 1:30-4 PM
  • Location - Paris Branch (12 William Street, Paris)
  • Ages - Adults

Similar to Rummy, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. A tile-based game, Mahjong was created in China in the Qing Dynasty and has spread throughout the world since the early twentieth century.

The game is proven to keep the mind sharp, producing an increase in cognitive function.

This is a free drop-in program.

Trivia Night

Test your knowledge of movies, animals, music, history, and more!

  • Date - Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM
  • Location - Online at Crowdpurr

Play along at home; no registration required. Simply head to Crowdpurr when you're ready to log in and follow the prompts.

Seniors' Drop-In

Swing by the Scotland-Oakland Branch (281 Oakland Road, Scotland) for an afternoon of great conversation and on-going activities (board games, crafting, Zen colouring, and more).

  • Date - Friday afternoons at 1 PM
  • Location - Scotland-Oakland Branch (281 Oakland Road, Scotland)
  • Ages - Adults 55+

All seniors are welcome; no registration is required.

Our collection features games for all ages and skill levels, and includes:

We have an extensive collection of puzzles featuring a variety of sizes, piece counts, and images.

Puzzles can be borrowed for three weeks (and renewed if no one has the item on hold).

Launchpads

Spotty internet? Going on a road trip? Playaway Launchpads are themed, handheld smart tablets full of games and brain teasers.

Launchpads for kids and adults are available to borrow for three weeks (and can be renewed if no one has the item on hold).

Empathy Toy

The Empathy Toy is an award-winning puzzle game originally designed by the Canadian National Institute for the Blind to help bridge the communication gap between visually impaired students and their sighted classmates.

Players must communicate successfully in order to build designs together.

This toy is great for a family fun night, team building workshop, and classroom play.
