The Library Board is responsible for setting policies for the governance and the operation of the County of Brant Public Library, in accordance with the Public Libraries Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.44. Any questions or concerns about a specific policy can be directed to CEO Kelly Bernstein.

Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Policy

The County of Brant Public Library Board makes information about the Library available to the public, and protects the privacy of all individuals' personal information in its custody in keeping with the access and privacy provisions of MFIPPA and other applicable legislation. Accessibility Policy

We serve all of our residents in a way that respects their dignity and independence. We follow the accessibility standards and practices set out by the County of Brant.

Collection Policy

Our mission is to represent the diversity of viewpoints found in the County of Brant. To learn more about how we carefully choose what goes in our collections, or to object to one of our selections, please read our Collections Policy.

Contest Policy

All contests run by the library are subject to our Contest Policy. Please be sure to read the rules before you participate. 

Internet and Wifi Access

All branches of the Library have public wireless internet access. Users must accept our Terms of Use before using this service. 

Each branch also provides computers for public internet access. These computers are available on a first come, first-served basis. Library computers automatically shut down 15 minutes before closing time, so please plan your visit accordingly. 

The Library does not use filters. Parents are responsible for monitoring their children's use. 

Local Author Policy

Authors who would like to have their works included in our collections should submit books for consideration by using our online submission forms:

  • Use this form to submit Adult Books for consideration
  • Use this form to submit Children's Books for consideration

All submissions must reflect the Library’s Collection Policy.

Membership Policy

The County of Brant Public Library is a library without borders. Anyone can get a card. Simply show us some adequate identification (like a driver's license, a rental agreement, a utility bill, etc.) and we will get you signed up with a membership. Read our Membership Policy for more information.

Program and Event Policies

By signing up to attend library programs, you automatically agree to abide by our Program and Event Policies.

Room Rental Policy

Renters of library program rooms must abide by our Room Rental Policy.

Rules of Conduct

Everyone who visits the Library is entitled to a safe and respectful environment. We have the right to ask you to leave if you behave in a disrespectful, noisy, or disruptive manner. Read about our rules for visiting in our Code of Conduct.

Social Media Terms of Use

The County of Brant Public Library is committed to cultivating a lifelong love of reading, celebrating and supporting a growing, diverse community, and connecting to Brant County residents in person and online. When interacting with us online, we reserve the right to delete or remove any posts or comments that don’t contribute to our mission of inclusivity, empowerment, and/or which violate our Code of Conduct, including:

Offensive Content: such as racial or religious slurs, ethnic slurs and jokes, sexual content and/or slurs, illegal content, content inciting hate, graphic or disturbing content, profanity, or discussions about illegal drugs or illegal activities. Individuals are prohibited from publishing or linking defamatory, obscene, indecent, misleading or unlawful material or information;

Personal Insults and Harassment: such as personal insults, divulging of personal information, or images altered or otherwise of people without their consent.

Negative / Inflammatory Content: such as comments or content that either results in, or is designed to inflame, provoke and incite continuous arguments and negative debates. All content must be suitable for all ages;

Images and Text: any images, links, or posts that contain sexual content, graphic or disturbing content, racial hatred, profanity, gambling or wagering for monetary gain, any content that should not be viewed by children, audio or video for sale or trade, or any other inappropriate or illegal content;

Other Inappropriate Content: any content that promotes particular services, products, or political organizations and/or infringes on copyrights or trademarks. Individuals are prohibited from advertising or offering to sell any goods or services, or conduct or forward surveys, contests, or chain letters. Any other content that we deem is in contradiction to our policies.

Technology Use Policy

We provide open, secure, and equitable access to technology resources as part of our purpose to foster a culture of life-long learning for all residents of the County of Brant. As such, users of our resources must abide by our Technology Use Policy.
